Claim Your Local Search Listings

A while back I talked about The Impact Of Google Search On Your Kansas City Business, one of the major takeaways was the importance of local listings. The conversion rate of local listings is much higher on mobile devices, according to a study by Google and Nielsen, 55% of purchase related conversions occur within 1 hour of the initial mobile search. If your local business can not be found easily, you are potentially missing out on a lot of actionable searches.

Wondering how to claim your Kansas City business’s local listings?

One of the most useful tools I have found to get you on the way to claiming your Kansas City’s business local listings is completely free website built by moz.

Kansas-City-Local-Search-how-toGetListed.org

Once you navigate to getlisted.org, put your business name and zip code in their respective fields, and click the check my listings button. GetListed will search the internet for your business and return a list of suggested businesses, if you see your business select it. If you do not see your business skip to the bottom.

GetListed will analyze your local listings and display a customize listing score that shows how effectively your business is taking advantage of free local listing services.

Found-and-missing-listingsExamine the listing on the left. The red arrows point to three important areas.

The top arrow shows the completeness score, which in this case is 17%.

The second arrow shows missing listings; these are listings that need to be claimed. You can click the create listing for the corresponding listing you want to create.

The third arrow points to the listings that were found. You will want to check for consistency among your listings here. Write your address the same way in all your listings; for example if you write out the word Street or Suite in your listings write it out in all of them instead of abbreviating with st or ste.

Complete as many profiles as you can and fill them out completely and consistently across all listings. Spell your address the same, use the same phone number, use the same about us text etc. This consistency is important in how search engines evaluate the listings and apply them to your business.

These local listings will provide your website with positive links to your business in local search results that will be easily found by people searching for you product or services.

These are the websites that GetListed.org looks to for your business listing. If you could not find your business you should start by adding a profile to a few of the following
